Reports to: Interim VP of Clinical, Future Hospital Ownership
Job Summary: Guided by the Interim VP of Clinical, who currently serves as the acting Future Hospital Owner, the Managing Clinical Director (MCD) assumes responsibility for steering the clinical operations of the hospital, ensuring the delivery of top-tier services to our clients. Collaborating closely with the Hospital Owner and various administrative departments throughout the enterprise, the MCD strives to surpass financial, operational, and cultural objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Direct supervision of Associate Veterinarians and indirect supervision of hospital staff.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Partners with Hospital Owner and Talent Acquisition team to recruit and retain top veterinary talent and meet veterinarian hiring goals.
With the Hospital Owner and Hospital Manager, implements and follows AZPV orientation and training to drive doctor/staff retention and productivity.
In collaboration with the Hospital Owner, Hospital Manager, HRBP (HR business partner), and Operations Manager (OM), serves as a key leader in managing staff and veterinarian performance. Partners with enterprise leaders to implement performance management programs to meet and exceed hospital performance goals.
Communicates relevant people and culture updates to hospital staff and ensures hospital is aligned with the strategic direction of the business.
Acts as a brand ambassador, always exhibiting the AZPV core values. Continuously coaches and pushes hospital leadership to raise the cultural bar to foster a strong workplace culture that drives performance and retention at the hospital level.
Ensures that all DVMs are up to date on the latest veterinary procedures and techniques.
Works with Hospital Owner, OM, and HRBP as needed to support and participate in personal development plans including but not limited to pathways to success, performance improvement notifications (PIN), and training goals for associate veterinarians.
Partners with Hospital Owner and operational leadership to implement new DVM and hospital workflows, policies, and procedures. Leverages operational best practices to support client focus and high-quality medicine standards.
Supports marketing/offer new client acquisition efforts.
Under the direction of the Hospital Owner, supports and adheres to pricing/discounting structure.
Supports the use of advanced technology/equipment and follows AZPV maintenance requirements.
Ensures client satisfaction goals are met and exceeded through superior client service initiatives.
Partners with the Hospital Owner, Hospital Manager, operations, and people services teams to provide ongoing training on client education best practices and cost confidence.
Strong understanding of operational KPIs, including but not limited to financial and budgetary data, people and culture data, and client satisfaction data and is able to utilize to make informed decisions.
Under the direction of the Hospital Owner, works with operations team on short-term and long- range plans and budgets based upon organization goals and objectives and reports all outcomes accordingly.
With the Hospital Owner, facilities, and compliance team(s), ensures the hospital meets local, state, and federal regulatory safety and operating standards.
Works with Hospital Owner, Hospital Manager, and operations team to optimize expense and product selection as well as inventory management.
Participates in local marketing efforts as needed.
In collaboration with the Hospital Owner, Hospital Manager, and HRBP, identifies training opportunities onsite for team, and/or leadership and provides appropriate resources for implementation.
Works with the Hospital Owner, Hospital Manager, and other relevant stakeholders to foster strong interpersonal relationships between leadership team, staff, and business office. Participates in hospital recruitment efforts to maintain proper staffing levels and ensure top talent is selected.
Adheres to all AZPV policies and procedures.
Treats patients and carries a reduced caseload.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
A valid Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) license in good standing.
2+ years of experience in clinical veterinary medicine required.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at a time.
Walking, lifting, turning, twisting on a regular basis.
