Summit Veterinary Referral Center is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the team of our Internal Medicine Department, where you will work alongside our three boarded Internal Medicine Specialists and assist with a variety of exciting procedures including endoscopy, rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy, cystoscopy, bone marrow aspirate/biopsy, liver biopsy, arthrocentesis, and balloon dilation of structures, just to name a few.
We are a multi-specialty referral center, located in Tacoma, WA. In addition to Internal Medicine, we offer Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Surgery, and 24-hour Emergency and Critical Care services. As part of the Summit community, our technicians work with patients in each of our departments.
Qualifications: Washington State Licensed (or eligible) Veterinary Technician with a minimum of one-year experience. Experience in Internal Medicine or Critical Care is preferred, but is not required. Summit takes pride in being at the forefront for development and education of Veterinary Technicians, both as part of our staff and in the veterinary community at large.
The right candidate must possess a pleasant professional attitude as well as a strong desire to learn and master advanced nursing techniques. They must be self-motivated, a team player, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be comfortable multi-tasking and possess the ability to think and act both quickly and independently. Excellent client communication and patient-care skills are required.
Selected candidate will routinely have the opportunity to utilize all of their training and advance their skill set in areas such as:
Induction, management and recovery of anesthesia
Collection and analysis of lab samples
Monitoring and treatment of critically ill or emergent patients
Central line and urinary catheter placement
