Emergency veterinarian(s) needed to fill shifts at our after hours emergency clinic. MPEC provides an excellent opportunity for veterinarians to supplement their income by working flexible shifts throughout each month. Compensation includes shift-dependent base plus production percentage. There is also opportunity to create a full-time position for a qualified applicant. We are staffed with one veterinarian and one to three technicians during all operating hours, which include nights, weekends, and holidays. Busy days and nights at MPEC can be challenging, but a private office allows the veterinarian-on-staff to rest during quiet hours. We are equipped with two exam rooms, treatment and hospitalization area, isolation ward, surgical suite with isoflurane anesthesia, pulse-ox, EKG, and blood pressure monitoring, in-house bloodwork, and digital radiography. Potential candidates for this position should be versatile and outgoing, compassionate, able to multi-task, and have excellent communication skills. Professional demeanor and positive attitude are essential. Experience is preferred and mentoring is available. Responsibilities include: perform physical examinations and communicate findings, develop and implement diagnostic and treatment plans, present and explain estimates, perform emergency surgery, manage hospitalized patients, supervise support staff, and prepare complete records to facilitate seamless care between MPEC and our referring veterinarians.

About Midland Pet Emergency Center: Our motto is “Care through Cooperation.” MPEC opened in 1998 as a collaborative effort of Blount County veterinarians to provide after hours emergency services to their clients and patients. We are open on nights, weekends, and holidays so that area practitioners can rest in the knowledge that their clients and patients have round the clock access to quality medical and surgical care. We remain the most accessible and affordable option for emergency veterinary care in Blount County and also regularly treat patients within a nine county radius. We have a wide range of surgical and medical capabilities, but we are within easy access of advanced veterinary treatment centers to which we refer when necessary. It is our goal to treat and resolve injury and illness whenever possible, and to stabilize and initiate treatment for patients who will require ongoing therapy. We work with our clients to provide excellent and compassionate care in consideration of their available resources.
