Description
Personable veterinarians wanted for a well-established, currently 4-doctor, mixed animal practice in northern New York. We have positions available for small, large, or mixed practitioners. We see dogs and cats in the hospital and commercial livestock (mostly dairy cows), pet livestock, and some horses on a mobile basis. The only thing that we don't see are exotics and pocket pets.
We are looking for amicable small, large, or mixed animal veterinarians to join our team. We practice high quality medicine in a home-town atmosphere. We have plenty of support staff with 6 customer service representatives, 7 licensed technicians, 4 technician assistants, a surgery technician, large animal assistant, practice manager, and janitor. We have cultivated a great team and provide the best work/life balance possible in this beautiful area.
Position details include a large, renovated hospital with DaySmart (Vetter) software, digital radiography, digital dental radiography, high speed dental unit, full in house IDEXX lab, oxygen cage, isolation ward, small and large animal ultrasound, company vehicle for large animal work, and much more. Lots of mentoring and support from the current doctors is guaranteed and we have an awesome support staff that are able to help any time. You would have a 4 to 4 1/2 days work week with one weekday off. We are open Saturdays from 8 am to 1pm, so you may have to work some Saturdays. There is NO small animal on-call and we use an answering service to triage all after hours calls. We do see large animal emergencies but large animal on call would be shared only with the other large animal veterinarian(s). Small animal veterinarians are NOT expected to do large animal on call!! There is a 24-hour small animal emergency clinic less than an hour away in the Syracuse area, with several other options for referral within a 3 hour radius of Watertown. Opportunities are available to develop your interests – ultrasound, physical therapy, acupuncture, equine etc.
Watertown, NY is close to the St. Lawrence river, Lake Ontario, the Adirondacks, and we are only 30 minutes from the Canadian border. It is a great area for outdoor sports enthusiasts as year-round recreation abounds. Hunting, fishing, snow sports, water sports, hiking, camping, and the list goes on. Watertown is a small city with a stable economy due to the nearby Army base at Fort Drum. We are also an easy drive to the big cities of Syracuse, Albany, and Rochester.
New graduates are encouraged to apply. Full time salary will be dependent on experience but no less than $100,000 base. This also does not include all the excellent benefits. ProSal can also be considered. Salary is renegotiated after 6 months, then annually. Benefits include, but are not limited to: paid C.E. and all expenses, health insurance, 401(k) and safe harbor; 14 days paid vacation with 5 days paid sick leave as paid time off; paid DEA and state license as well as professional memberships, pet discounts on goods and services, annual pet support stipend, and potential for future partnership.
