Description
About Lake Ontario Veterinary Clinic
We are a thriving, privately owned small-animal general practice just outside the city of Oswego, NY. Since opening the doors of our brand-new facility in 2023, we’ve grown faster than we ever imagined—and now, with two full-time veterinarians and a talented support team, we’re ready to welcome a third associate DVM to our family.
Our modern facility was designed with both patient comfort and team workflow in mind. It features a large, open reception area for a welcoming first impression; four spacious exam rooms; and a private comfort room with a separate entrance and exit for euthanasia to ensure privacy and compassion during difficult moments. We offer a dedicated surgical suite, a separate dentistry suite, and a large, open treatment area that promotes teamwork and efficiency. We’re equipped with digital radiography for both general and dental imaging, a brand-new advanced ultrasound system, a Class IV therapy laser, a fully equipped in-house laboratory, and a large on-site pharmacy. We operate entirely on cloud-based electronic medical records that integrate seamlessly with our fully electronic hospitalization and anesthetic records, as well as our diagnostic and laboratory equipment, to streamline workflow and ensure accuracy.
We focus heavily on client education and a spectrum-of-care approach to meet the needs of our diverse economic community, and we take pride in practicing high-quality medicine in a collaborative and compassionate environment. We’re proud to remain an independent, privately owned practice, committed to collaboration, teamwork, and giving our doctors the freedom to practice medicine thoughtfully within a unified, supportive team that shares a commitment to exceptional patient care and a positive client experience.
Enough About Us—Let’s Talk About You
At Lake Ontario Veterinary Clinic, our mission is to provide exceptional care to our patients and clients—and we know that means investing in the people who make it all happen.
Flexible, family-friendly scheduling
We believe great medicine starts with a healthy work-life balance. We’re open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no weekends, no on-call, and no overnights. We do our best to honor everyone’s dedicated lunch hour and offer the option of 8-hour or 10-hour shifts. We’re ideally seeking a full-time associate, but part-time may be considered for the right fit. If you’ve been hoping to find a team that cares as deeply about each other as they do about their patients, you’ll fit right in here.
A supportive, experienced team
Our team combines years of diverse experience with a genuine passion for teaching, collaboration, and patient care. Our veterinarians bring extensive backgrounds in general practice and a shared commitment to mentorship and high-quality medicine. You’ll be supported by licensed veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and a skilled client service group—a cohesive team of professionals deeply invested in our shared success. You’ll never be alone in the trenches here. New graduates will find structured mentorship, plenty of hands-on training, and the freedom to grow at their own pace, while experienced practitioners can expect the trust, autonomy, and collaboration that come with being part of a skilled team.
Time for yourself, your family, and your growth
We offer generous paid time off, paid holidays, CE time and reimbursement, health and dental insurance, paid family and medical leave, and a retirement plan with matching contributions. When you leave for the day, you’re truly off-duty—unless you choose to log in remotely through our cloud-based EMR to wrap up records from the comfort of home.
Competitive compensation and benefits
You’ll receive a competitive base salary (with production bonuses), health and dental insurance, a uniform allowance, paid licenses and memberships, employee and family pet discounts, and an employer-matched retirement plan.
Freedom to explore your interests
We love when our team pursues what excites them! Whether that’s surgery, ultrasound, dentistry, pain management, rehabilitation, or something new entirely, we encourage continuing education. We’re happy to invest in the right tools and training as our practice grows, and interest in areas like urgent care, exotics, internal medicine, or rehabilitation would be especially welcome (but not required).
A culture of collaboration, kindness, and respect
We’re proud of our supportive team dynamic. We listen, laugh, learn, and lift each other up. We celebrate the wins and handle the tough days together. If you’re looking for a practice where your ideas are valued and your well-being matters, you’ll fit right in.
