Unique opportunity at the top of the world! The North Slope Borough Veterinary Clinic/ Public Health Office is hiring a full-time veterinarian in Barrow, AK. Barrow is a culturally-diverse, Inupiat Eskimo community of 4500 people, at the northern-most point in the United States.
The North Slope Borough Veterinary Clinic provides general small animal clinical services, animal control services, and public health outreach related to zoonotic diseases and environmental health issues. Small animal practice is focused on preventative care, but the new veterinarian could expand the clinic services based on his or her experience and interests.
The North Slope Borough villages are rural, subsistence-hunting Inupiat Eskimo communities. The position is based in Barrow, but veterinarians travel to each of the 7 other North Slope villages twice a year to provide vaccines, spays and neuters, and general veterinary exams.
