The Southeast Kansas Humane Society in Pittsburg, Kansas has an immediate opening for an experienced veterinarian. The SEK Humane Society has been in existence for 45 years and continues to thrive with strong community support. The Humane Society operates a very active spay/neuter program (Pawprints on the Heartland) with a fully equipped spay/neuter van as well as a fully furnished low-cost clinic. The veterinarian works with two assistants and a receptionist from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with weekends off. This position presents a great opportunity to enjoy the benefits of working in a clinic without the stresses of financial and personnel management and long hours. Minimum qualifications include a DVM degree from an AVMA accredited Veterinary College, current license or ability to be licensed to practice in Kansas, experience with medical and surgical cases preferred, and willingness to learn as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills are important.

It's purpose is to shelter homeless and abused animals, operate a progressive adoption program, investigate abuse cases, and encourage the spay/neuter of animals in order to control overpopulation through the Pawprints on the Heartland program.
