About Onslow County Animal Services
Onslow County Animal Services (OCAS) provides sheltering of 6,300 animals annually, as well as county-wide animal control assistance for approximately 190,000 residents. The Animal Services Center is located in Jacksonville, North Carolina, a short drive from coastal beach communities, such as North Topsail Beach and Surf City. OCAS experienced great change and growth over the past year: significantly decreasing euthanasia; enacting mandatory spay/neuter upon adoption; expanding the foster program; implementing a microchip program; utilizing an extensive rescue network; and partnering with a non-profit to support the residents' medical needs. Upcoming changes include renovations to improve cat living quarters, install a new ventilation system, expand the reception area, and finish the newly established surgical and veterinary suite.
