This position is for an intern/associate position at a busy Standardbred racetrack located 25 minutes south of Pittsburgh. This is a newly created position designed to help young graduates master their skill set getting to do more advanced procedures under the supervision of a seasoned veterinarian. The intern will work 5.5 days a week and 5 of those will be in the same practice vehicle as the owner. The half day will involve working on your own doing basic medical treatments. As your confidence and skills improve you will have more independence within the practice. I am looking to mentor the right individual that has a passion for being a veterinarian!
The hope is to build trust amongst the clients, at a more rapid rate, which will enable the intern the opportunity to do many more procedures than a typical intern would get to do. Following this internship, the intern will have complete understanding of radiography, excellent understanding of distal limb ultrasound, surgical techniques like castrations and lacerations, confidence in upper and lower endoscopy, lameness exams, nerve blocks, as well as many more routine aspects of private practice. The practice utilizes PRP, stem cells, IRAP, and has excellent diagnostic equipment. This is a great opportunity for someone that wants to further their career in racetrack practice or sports medicine.
I am looking for someone that has a great attitude and wants to learn. A strong work life balance is also very important.
Included is CE for one meeting and all travel costs associated, Major medical insurance, liability insurance, professional dues and vehicle.
This is a desirable area to live with close proximity to Pittsburgh, and many local area attractions.
PA state license, USDA accreditation
